I had heard about Austin Land and Cattle for a long time. It was Jo's Birthday and she wanted steak or seafood. We looked at menus from all the local Steak restaurants. This one won out since we had never been there.
One difference at Austin Land and Cattle from the other high end Steakhouse's is that they include a potato selection as well as vegetables. I went with a petite filet with a baked potato. Being the usual pig that I have been lately, I cleaned my plate. The steak was cooked to perfection. It was tender and had a great pure meat taste. One of the best I have had. I have a hard time deciding between Flemings, Ruth Chris, Perry's and now Austin Land. In addition to my entire plate, I had at least 2 rolls, which were incredible I might add.
Jo had the Sunday Night Prix Fixe and chose fried shrimp. Hers came with a salad before and dessert after. She chose the caesar salad. It was just the right size and hit the spot with the bread rolls that were served. I was not crazy about the shrimp. I just don't like Jumbo Shrimp other than in shrimp cocktail. Steak is the way to go.
Doing my part to Keep Austin Weird,
Alan
